Botched breakfast order led to McDonald's coffee toss: Cops

Casharra Brown allegedly throwing hot coffee on a McDonald’s manager in Michigan (Buena Vista Township Police Department).

In Michigan, a McDonald’s manager found herself at the center of an unsettling incident when a customer, frustrated by a mistake in her breakfast order, allegedly threw a hot cup of coffee at her. This information comes from the police’s account of the incident.

Buena Vista Township Police Detective Russ Pahssen remarked to the local CBS affiliate, WNEM, that the situation “probably could’ve been settled a little bit different.” His comments came about a week after a cellphone video capturing the alleged altercation gained widespread attention online.

In the video, a woman identified as Casharra Brown can purportedly be heard exclaiming, “Catch that hot a— coffee!” She allegedly follows this with further expletives directed at the manager.

In an effort to resolve the matter, the Buena Vista Police Department took to Facebook, sharing footage of the incident and appealing to the public for help in identifying Brown. The call for assistance was met with a significant response, resulting in numerous tips and the issuance of an arrest warrant for Brown last week.

As of Tuesday evening, Brown remained at large, with authorities continuing their search for her.

She was still being sought as of Tuesday evening.

“We will be requesting that she gets jail time out of this,” Pahssen told WNEM.

The manager allegedly told police that the female customer had ordered some breakfast sandwiches and coffee on the McDonald’s app. She came in to try and get a refund, the manager says, despite there being no name given on the app.

“It was just left blank,” Pahssen recounted, noting how a dispute broke out.

“The lady came in and tried to return two sandwiches,” the detective alleged. “She wasn’t happy about the breakfast sandwiches, and that’s when they continued to argue. And next thing you know coffee was being thrown.”

Pahssen said the employee suffered minor injuries, leading to a misdemeanor assault and battery warrant being obtained for Brown’s arrest. He told WNEM that he had never seen a case like this in his 22 years as a law enforcement officer.

“Once it goes through the court system, we’ll see what happens when she goes to court,” Pahssen said. “But we will be requesting that she gets some jail time out of this.”
