A Tennessee man, Austin Drummond, now faces serious legal charges after being indicted by a grand jury for the alleged murder of four family members and the kidnapping of a baby. The charges against him, as reported by CourtTV, include four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated kidnapping, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.

In a significant development, Lake County District Attorney General Danny Goodman has announced that his office intends to pursue the death penalty if Drummond is found guilty. This decision underscores the gravity of the charges and the impact of the crime on the community.

The series of tragic events unfolded in July after a weeklong manhunt culminated in the arrest of Drummond. The victims—Adriana Williams, James Matthew Wilson, Cortney Rose, and Braydon Williams—were discovered shot to death in Lake County. As CrimeOnline reported, the grim discovery occurred just hours after the infant daughter of Adriana Williams and James Matthew Wilson was found abandoned in nearby Dyer County.

The victims were closely knit: Brayden Williams and Adriana Williams were siblings, and Cortney Rose was their mother. This familial connection adds an additional layer of tragedy to the already harrowing case.

In a twist, Drummond, aged 28, has publicly proclaimed his innocence. During an interview with a Nashville television station, he claimed that during his time in prison, he operated as a confidential informant, a role that he says was compromised, prompting him to flee out of fear. He insists that he did not commit the murders and that the slain family members were akin to family to him. Notably, Drummond’s girlfriend is the sister of Cortney Rose, adding further complexity to the case.

Drummond claimed in an interview with a Nashville television station that he had been a confidential informant while in prison and that his cover was blown. He said he was afraid and ran but that he did not kill the family, which he considered part of his own family. Drummond’s girlfriend was Rose’s sister.

Goodman said he was confident Drummond was the killer and that there was a solid motive.
