An Arizona man is in custody after investigators said he was the last known person to have contact with a 15-year-old girl before she disappeared and was later found dead.
Mark Spadt, 52, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the death of Diana Valle Walle, 15, whose body was discovered in Yuma, Arizona, on June 1. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office said Spadt is also suspected of sexually abusing the teenager before killing her and concealing her body. Local CBS affiliate KPHO reported that authorities tried to serve a warrant at Spadt’s home on June 12, but he was not there when deputies arrived.
Spadt now faces charges of first-degree murder, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, custodial interference, and tampering with evidence. He is being held at the Yuma County Detention Center on $1 million cash bail. Information about his next scheduled court appearance was not immediately available.
