A New York mother is facing a murder charge after police found her 5-year-old daughter unresponsive inside their Queens home.
Francis Cabello, 32, remains jailed without bail after prosecutors alleged that she killed her daughter, Fabiana Cabello Singh. According to reporting from local ABC affiliate WABC, Cabello appeared in court Friday, two days after allegedly calling 911 and telling dispatchers, “I killed my daughter.” Officers responding to her Richmond Hill home on Oct. 14 found Fabiana unresponsive.
Fabiana’s father, 36-year-old Kuldeep Singh, spoke with local outlet Gothamist. Singh, who was estranged from Cabello but remained in contact with her while they co-parented, said the girl’s grandmother informed him about Fabiana’s condition. He rushed to the hospital, where his daughter later died. Singh said Cabello cared for Fabiana “so much” and that he knew of no mental health issues.
