Two men from Idaho are facing prison sentences after a disturbing kidnapping incident involving a teenager. The perpetrators, Devin Larson, 21, and Steen Thomas Lamb, 22, were found guilty of second-degree kidnapping after orchestrating a plan that saw them abduct an 18-year-old, tie him up, and disguise his identity with a bag, before impersonating him in messages to his girlfriend to end their relationship.
Larson received a seven-year prison term, with two years fixed, while Lamb was sentenced to 13 years, with three years fixed, as shared by the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office in a recent press statement.
The harrowing event took place on September 5 in an under-construction subdivision in Eagle, located about 10 miles northwest of Boise. The victim, Jordan Carrillo, had planned to meet a photographer for a motorcycle photoshoot, unaware that Larson and Lamb had devised a trap for him.
Prosecutors detailed the incident, stating that after capturing a single photo, Larson instructed Carrillo to turn around. At that moment, Lamb emerged and incapacitated him with a taser.
Following this, Carrillo was restrained with zip ties around his wrists and ankles, and a bag was placed over him. The men then subjected him to a brutal assault, striking his head and body multiple times and repeatedly using the taser. This violent encounter persisted for approximately an hour.
The prosecution highlighted a particularly chilling moment when Lamb allegedly pressed a firearm to Carrillo’s chest, threatening his life unless he agreed to break up with his girlfriend.
“The defendants forced Carrillo to hand over his phone and used it to send text messages to the girlfriend ending the relationship,” the press release said.
Larson and Lamb eventually let Carrillo go, but not before threatening to kill him, his sister and other family members if he told cops about the incident. Carrillo rode his motorcycle away from the scene thinking he would be shot in the back.
Authorities did not reveal why Larson and Lamb were so insistent on forcing Carrillo to break up with his girlfriend.
“I commend the victim’s courage in reporting this crime given the death threats intended to silence him. This was a planned, calculated attack on a young man who had no idea what was coming,” Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts said in a statement. “The defendants used deception, violence, and fear to control their victim — and then threatened his family to ensure his silence. That kind of conduct demands accountability, and today’s sentence delivers it.”
