A man from South Carolina faces serious charges following allegations of sexually abusing his 14-year-old stepdaughter. Authorities claim that the girl’s mother was aware of the ongoing abuse but did not take action.

Andrew Joseph Martin, aged 38, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct involving a minor. Meanwhile, Misty Danielle Norris, 35, is charged with being an accessory and unlawfully neglecting a child. According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, more charges are expected to be filed against Martin.

The investigation was launched last month when law enforcement responded to the home shared by Martin and Norris. There, they encountered a young girl seeking assistance from the authorities. Specific details regarding the initial reason for the police visit were not disclosed.

“Evidence indicates that Martin subjected the girl to years of sexual abuse and coerced her into silence,” stated the sheriff’s department.

It has been reported that Norris “confessed to being aware of the abusive actions occurring between Martin and the victim.”

Currently, Martin is detained in Oconee County. He was apprehended on January 2 due to a bench warrant from 2017 related to Westminster, according to jail records.
