A teenager from Tennessee finds himself in custody after allegedly threatening his uncle with a firearm equipped with a 100-round magazine. The incident reportedly stemmed from the uncle’s decision to evict the young man due to accusations of theft.

Eighteen-year-old Kevin Lowery is now charged with several offenses, including aggravated assault, domestic assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and intent to distribute marijuana, as reported by the Memphis Police Department.

Authorities were called to a residence on Overton Park Avenue after reports of an armed individual. The uncle recounted that Lowery became agitated when confronted about the alleged theft and was informed he would be taken to his sister’s place for the night.

Lowery, who was carrying a handgun, reportedly swapped the standard magazine for a “100-round drum,” according to police documentation.

The teen allegedly warned, “Once you drop me off, you better leave quickly because I’m going to start shooting at you.”

After the suspect departed the premises, the uncle notified law enforcement. Officers later found Lowery outside the apartment. When he stood, a firearm and high-capacity magazine reportedly fell from his lap. Additionally, marijuana was discovered in his possession, according to the police report.

Police spoke with Lowery’s aunt, to whom he allegedly sent a picture of the gun and said if his uncle did not give him the money to make it back to St. Louis, he would make the victim “lose everything.”

Cops took Lowery into custody. As of Thursday afternoon, he remains in the Shelby County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
