A Georgia resident has been missing for over a year after leaving her home and failing to return.
On May 12, 2024, Destiney Gunnison, who is now 31 years old, departed from her father’s residence in Atlanta with plans to visit a friend in Oakland City. Unfortunately, Gunnison did not make it back home, and her absence has been particularly concerning to her family, as her mother reported to WAGA that it’s uncharacteristic for her to miss holidays or extended periods without contacting her family.
Authorities have labeled Gunnison as endangered, with her mother expressing fears of foul play being a factor in her disappearance.
Adding to the concern, Gunnison’s mother revealed to WAGA that her daughter experiences seizures and possesses the mental capacity of a child, occasionally necessitating medication to manage her condition.
Gunnison is described as having a height between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 7 inches, a weight range of 215 to 235 pounds, and black hair with brown eyes. According to Black and Missing, she has a noticeable light tick and walks with a slight twist.
Anyone who might have information about Gunnison’s location is urged to contact the East Point police at 404-761-2177.
Destiney Gunninson’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
