Just hours after Taylor Swift unexpectedly unveiled a music video for her track “Elizabeth Taylor,” the estate of the legendary actress responded to the tribute, which features a montage of iconic archival footage from Taylor’s renowned films such as “Cleopatra,” “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “A Place in the Sun,” and “Giant.”
In a statement to TMZ on Tuesday, a representative expressed, “This is a celebration of Elizabeth from start to finish, and a true homage.”
“We are thrilled by this tribute and the thoughtful manner in which Taylor Swift has highlighted what many have always known: Elizabeth Taylor was a genuine icon, a pioneer in every sense,” the statement continued.
The representative added, “Elizabeth lived unapologetically and on her own terms, embracing her public life with grace and courage while fiercely protecting the private life she cherished with her family and friends. This balance, this duality, was one of her most extraordinary qualities.”
The estate further remarked, “If anyone today is navigating the extraordinary pressures of global fame with similar authenticity and strength, it is Taylor Swift. We are honored that she chose to pay tribute in this way, and we have no doubt that Elizabeth would have adored every moment of it.”

Elizabeth Taylor, the child star who became an Oscar-winning actress with her unforgettable violet eyes, passed away in 2011 at the age of 79 due to congestive heart failure.
The 36-year-old billionaire pop star ended her fully-authorized montage devoted to Elizabeth by thanking the House of Taylor, the Elizabeth Taylor Trust, the Todd family and the Wilding family.

‘There’s a song called Elizabeth Taylor, which is sort of my emotions and my issues with fame through the lens of cosplaying the life of Elizabeth Taylor, so you kind of meld the two experiences together,’ the 14-time Grammy winner told the Elvis Duran Show last October.
‘She is always someone that I’ve looked up to as being this very glamorous, very beloved, but for some reason a polarizing figure, which I found myself in that place, too.’
Swift previously sang about the amfAR co-founder’s scandalous on/off marriage to her Cleopatra leading man Richard Burton in her 2017 hit song, …Ready for It: ‘And he can be jailor / Burton to this Taylor.’
‘She lived unapologetically and on her own terms, embracing her public life with grace and courage while fiercely protecting the private world she cherished with family and friends. That balance, that duality, was one of her most remarkable qualities.’
Elizabeth’s estate continued: ‘If there is anyone navigating the extraordinary pressures of global fame with comparable authenticity and strength, it is Taylor Swift. The estate is honored that she chose to pay tribute in this way, and have no doubt that Elizabeth would have loved every frame of it’
