“Avengers: Doomsday” is already fueling plenty of speculation, and for good reason: the film is shaping up to be a massive Marvel gathering that brings together familiar faces from across the MCU and beyond. Some rumored appearances have been officially confirmed, while others remain unverified, but the confirmed lineup alone suggests a major reunion of past and present Marvel stars. One of the biggest announcements came in 2024, when Marvel confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU. This time, however, he will not be reprising his beloved role as Tony Stark. Instead, Downey is set to play Doctor Doom. Chris Evans, best known as Steve Rogers/Captain America, has also been confirmed for the film, marking a notable return after his last major appearance in “Avengers: Endgame.”
A “now in production” teaser released in March 2025 added even more names to the cast list. Confirmed stars include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Simu Liu as Xu Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
The film will also welcome several actors from Fox’s “X-Men” franchise. Patrick Stewart is set to return as Professor X, alongside Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and James Marsden as Cyclops. Kathryn Newton also confirmed through an Instagram post that she will appear as Cassie Lang, the daughter of Ant-Man, while Mabel Cadena is expected to return as Namora, Namor’s cousin.
