Flau'jae Johnson leads LSU in Homecoming win over Georgia Southern

In a commanding display of athletic prowess, the Louisiana State University women’s basketball team triumphed over Georgia Southern with a resounding 118-70 victory in Statesboro, Georgia. The spotlight shone brightly on Savannah native, Flau’jae Johnson, who played a pivotal role in the win, making the event even more special given its proximity to her hometown.

Johnson, a senior guard for the Tigers, shared the scoring spotlight with MiLaysia Fulwiley, a transfer from South Carolina. Both athletes led the team with an impressive 19 points each, contributing significantly to the team’s overwhelming performance. Johnson also added six assists to her stat line, further cementing her influence on the game.

Reflecting on the experience, Johnson described it as one of the most memorable days in her college career. “It was fun; everyone has that love for me,” she remarked, noting the joy she felt throughout the game. “I was smiling all day even on turnovers.”

Despite a quiet first quarter, Johnson ignited in the second, showcasing her shooting skills with three three-pointers. Her standout moment came with a dazzling behind-the-back assist, which helped propel LSU into a significant scoring surge that left Georgia Southern trailing.

“It was fun everyone has that love for me,” she said. “I was smiling all day even on turnovers.”

Johnson was scoreless in the first quarter and then exploded in the second. She recorded three three-pointers in the quarter, along with a highlight behind-the-back assist that sparked a big scoring run from LSU.

The next game for the Georgia Southern lady Eagles will be on Nov. 18 on the road against Missouri State.
