JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Johnson City Mayor John Hunter shared a statement on his social media Saturday afternoon following the circulation of a video involving him.

In the video, Hunter appears to be stumbling in downtown Johnson City. The video ends by showing a white truck driving away.

Hunter posted the following statement to social media on Saturday:

A video of me in public was recorded last Saturday and has spread across social media. I acknowledge that our community maintains high values and standards, and I did not meet them.

I am deeply sorry for my actions and regret the embarrassment and disappointment they have caused my family, colleagues and community.

I am committed to learning from this experience and making better choices moving forward.

Mayor John Hunter

News Channel 11 has reached out to Hunter for more information regarding the video, to which he directed us back to his social media post.
