Keith Urban, the celebrated country music artist born in New Zealand, is navigating a new chapter in his life following his separation from actress Nicole Kidman. Embracing a change of pace, Urban has taken on a more humble role, performing aboard a cruise ship destined for the Bahamas.
At 58, Urban recently entertained over a thousand guests on the Top Shelf Country Cruise, a setting quite different from the large arenas he’s accustomed to. This cruise line is known for featuring a roster of successful country musicians, such as Riley Green, Chris Young, and Lauren Alaina, who perform for travelers in return for compensation and accommodations.
Despite the picturesque setting, sources indicate that Urban, who has graced far larger stages in his career, wasn’t entirely thrilled with the engagement. “During his marriage to Nicole Kidman, this is the sort of gig Keith would have likely dismissed,” an insider revealed to New Idea magazine.
This development has also stirred curiosity about Urban’s financial status. Although his net worth has been consistently reported to exceed $100 million, his recent career choices have left some wondering about his current financial landscape.
‘It’s the kind of gig that Keith would have turned his nose up at during his marriage to Nicole Kidman,’ an insider tells this week’s New Idea magazine.
The move has also sparked questions about Keith’s financial position, despite longstanding reports placing his net worth at more than $100million.
Keith Urban has accepted a modest new job as he adjusts to single life following his split from Nicole Kidman
Although Keith and Nicole, 58, managed to reach a divorce settlement which did not include him paying any spousal or child support, the split is still estimated to have been very expensive for both parties.
‘When there’s that much money involved in a split, the lawyers don’t come cheap, regardless of the outcome,’ the source said.
The insider added that regardless of how much his new job pays, it helps keep Keith occupied.
‘Cruise ships are not exactly the dream gig, but they pay the bills – and it gives Keith something to focus on. He’s trying to stay busy now that his divorce is finalised,’ they said.
While there are no details of Keith’s pay for performing on the ship, a musician of his stature could easily demand six figures – especially when passenger tickets were priced between $6,700 – $19,000 for a seven-day cruise.
‘He’s putting a bright spin on everything right now, but singing on a cruise ship is a big change from performing at his own sell-out tour last year,’ they said.
‘However, Keith is determined to keep working while he figures out, with his new management team, some exciting plans for the latter part of this year.’
It follows reports that as family and friends rally around Nicole in the wake of her split from Keith, it seems that the country star is leaning into the bachelor life.

Insiders say Keith, who has previously held concerts at much bigger arenas, was not too happy about the gig
According to Woman’s Day, Keith is now living a ‘solitary’ bachelor life in Nashville when he is not spending time with his children – Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.
The publication claims that Keith has cut out everyone that had to do with his past with Nicole.
‘He’s now living a life that’s been completely purged of everyone to do with his past life,’ the source said.
As part of the divorce, which was finalised in January, Nicole retained the lion’s share of custody of the couple’s kids.
Under the parenting plan, Nicole will spend 306 days a year with her daughters, while Keith will have 59 days.
The last time Keith was seen publicly with his daughters was back in December 2024.
