An investigation is under way into a suspected security breach at two Adelaide prisons.

Authorities are currently investigating whether a fake access pass was used by an unauthorized individual to enter secure areas within Yatala and the women’s prison.

According to information obtained by 9News, a person who had limited access and possibly a criminal history was discovered in possession of what appears to be an altered access pass.

This situation has sparked concerns that the individual may have entered restricted zones in one or both prisons without proper supervision.

The South Australia Department for Correctional Services has confirmed that an “identification card was confiscated and suspended at the gatehouse at Yatala Labour Prison.”

The department assured that the prisons employ “stringent access control measures,” which include identity verification and biometric registration.

A spokesperson emphasized, “Any attempt to bypass these stringent controls is taken very seriously.”
