Chris Picton has been reassigned from the demanding health portfolio to a different role.

His successor, Blair Boyer, expressed excitement about stepping into Picton’s previous responsibilities, even though it means leaving his cherished education portfolio behind.

Alice Rolls, a newcomer to politics, has quickly ascended to the frontbench as the minister responsible for child protection and domestic violence.

Rolls is the first new member of parliament to immediately enter the cabinet since Stephen Mullighan in 2018, and she acknowledged the challenge of her new position.

“It’s daunting… the past 24 hours have been quite overwhelming, but I plan to tackle it one step at a time,” Rolls shared.

Shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, the premier swiftly acted on an election promise by eliminating stamp duty for individuals aged 60 and over who are downsizing, applicable to new builds valued up to $2 million.
