Bar to host watch party for livestreamed execution of terrorist

A Montana bar is planning a watch party for the reported execution of wheelchair-bound Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan after Pete Hegseth said the event would be broadcast via livestream.

Mike’s Alcan Bar & Grill in Frenchtown has invited customers to gather at the venue on December 3 to watch Hasan, 56, face a firing squad, according to the announcement.

Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist from Virginia who was described by prosecutors as a jihadist, opened fire at Texas’ Fort Hood military base on November 5, 2009. The attack left 13 people dead and 32 others wounded.

He was later convicted in the mass shooting and sentenced to death. Hasan was also left paralyzed from the waist down after being shot in the spine during the attack.

Hegseth announced Thursday that the planned execution would be livestreamed publicly—an extraordinary move that, according to the report, would mark the first such broadcast in the United States in almost 100 years.

The announcement drew widespread attention, while Mike Shamoon, the owner of the small-town Montana bar, said he was enthusiastic about hosting the viewing.

In a Facebook post, Shamoon wrote: “We will be hosting a watch party for the livestream of this overdue execution. Come on down to Mike’s Alcan and watch this scumbag’s soul scream on its way to hell!”

He ended the message by writing: “God Bless America, our Troops, our Marines and most importantly The Infantry!”

Mike’s Alcan Bar & Grill in Frenchtown announced plans to host a December 3 viewing of the reported firing-squad execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, whose age has been listed inconsistently in reports.

Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist turned 'Jihadist' from Virginia, killed 13 people and injured 32 others on November 5, 2009, after opening fire at Fort Hood military base in Texas

Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist from Virginia described as a jihadist, killed 13 people and wounded 32 others during the 2009 Fort Hood shooting in Texas.

Shamoon, who acquired the bar earlier this year, also identified himself as a former U.S. Marine Corps serviceman.

He said he served with Third Battalion, Eighth Marines, Kilo Company, Second Platoon, and completed two deployments during the War on Terror, including service in Afghanistan. After leaving the Marines, he said he worked as a Defense Department security contractor, private bodyguard, investigator and bounty hunter.

Shamoon later posted additional information about the planned execution livestream and the bar’s viewing event on his personal Facebook account.

According to his announcement, the watch party is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. local time on December 3, with the bar opening its doors at 11 a.m.

Some commenters expressed support for the decision. One person wrote, “Let’s celebrate!!! See you there!”

Another commenter said they would not attend but would “raise a glass in celebration.”

President Donald Trump has voiced support for a public execution, although he indicated that a final decision still remains pending.

The victims identified in the report include Michael Cahill, 32; Librado Caraveo, 52; Justin DeCrow, 32; John Gaffaney, 56; Fredrick Greene, 29; Jason Hunt, 22; Amy Krueger, 29; Aaron Nemelka, 19; Michael Pearson, 22; Russell Gilbert Seagar, 51; Francheska Velez, 21; Juanita Warman, 55; and Kham Xiong, 23.

Michael Cahill, Librado Caraveo, Justin DeCrow, John Gaffaney, Fredrick Greene, Jason Hunt, Amy Krueger, Aaron Nemelka, Michael Pearson, Russell Gilbert Seagar, Francheska Velez, Juanita Warman and Kham Xiong were killed in the Fort Hood attack.

Hasan was permanently paralyzed after a bullet struck his spine during the deadly shooting and has been unable to walk since.

Hasan claimed he launched the terror attack out of anger about being deployed to Afghanistan and a desire to protect Islamic and Taliban leaders from US troops.

His execution will be the first carried out by the United States military in 65 years.

The last one took place in April 1961 when US Army Private John Bennett was executed by hanging at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas.

He was found guilty of rape and the attempted murder of an 11-year-old girl while he was stationed in Austria.

Trump´s approval of Hasan’s public execution triggered a series of procedural steps toward carrying out the execution, but the killer could put them on hold – potentially for years – with a habeas corpus appeal in the civilian federal court system, according to an article published in May in the magazine Army Lawyer.

Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell declared that Hasan will be just the second person since 2010 to be put to death by a firing squad.

‘Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has recommended — and President Donald J. Trump has approved — death by U.S. Army firing squad for convicted terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan, the jihadist who opened fire on unarmed American soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009,’ he wrote on social media.

‘He killed 13 people and wounded 32 others while shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ during the attack,’ Parnell added.

‘The Secretary of the Army will set the time and place of the execution. Judgement day for Hasan has finally come.’

Hegseth also circulated Parnell’s message on X with a one-word reaction: ‘Justice.’
