An ex-employee of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was taken into custody on Saturday after entering the Manhattan facility and allegedly claiming to have a bomb, according to police sources.

Described by authorities as emotionally disturbed, the individual reportedly exhibited erratic behavior upon arriving at the hospital located on York Avenue in the Upper East Side at approximately 12:05 p.m. He allegedly announced, “I have a bomb in my bag,” causing concern among staff and patients.

The New York Police Department’s bomb squad was promptly called to the scene, where they determined that the threat was a false alarm. In reality, the man was carrying a cement statue in his bag, sources revealed.

The incident triggered a significant police presence and response at the hospital, though further details about the former hospital employee remain scarce as of Saturday.

The bomb scare prompted a massive police response.

No other information on the ex-hospital worker was immediately available Saturday.
