Britney Spears checks herself into rehab weeks after DUI arrest

Britney Spears has recently entered a rehabilitation center to address her struggles with substance abuse, her representative confirmed on Sunday.

The confirmation follows reports from an insider, shared with Us Weekly, which indicated that the pop icon decided to seek help after receiving significant encouragement from those close to her. TMZ first reported the news, highlighting the intervention from her inner circle.

“She realizes she hit rock bottom,” a source revealed to the outlet, referring to the 44-year-old Grammy winner’s decision to seek treatment.

According to sources who spoke with TMZ, Spears has been dealing with longstanding issues related to alcohol and the ADHD medication Adderall.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Spears’ representatives for additional comments on the matter.

This development comes nearly a month after Spears was arrested on March 4 for a DUI in Ventura County, California.

The …Baby One More Time artist also had her pending court case in connection with the DUI in mind when she committed to the 30-day rehab program, an insider told TMZ.

‘She knows strategically this will look good in front of the judge – that she’s taking it seriously,’ a source told the outlet of the case, which returns before a judge May 4.

Spears’ two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline, 48 – Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19 – ‘been strongly supportive of the move,’ sources told TMZ.

Spears ‘could stay longer’ than the 30 requisite days for the program she’s in, a source told the outlet.

Since the arrest, Spears has been diligently working the AA program and holding nothing back in meetings, an insider told The Daily Mail last month.

‘Britney has been very open and honest in her AA meetings, she has said she loves pouring her heart out as she knows that is the best way to heal and feel better.

‘The only thing she has indulged in is fancy coffee drinks. She is being super careful because she wants to be there for her kids.’

‘Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.’
