Cheryl Hines fears for her husband Robert F. Kennedy’s life

Cheryl Hines Worried About Husband Robert F. Kennedy’s Safety

Cheryl Hines knew life would never be the same after her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., launched his short-lived presidential campaign in 2023.

The former “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actress continues to be concerned about her safety, given that her husband, whom she married in 2014, is the controversial secretary of health and human services under the Trump administration.

“Every day, people ask me, ‘Aren’t you worried about him being shot like his father and uncle?'” she remarked in an interview set to be aired on “CBS Mornings” Tuesday.

Kennedy’s father, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in Los Angeles in 1968 during his presidential campaign, echoing the tragic fate of President John F. Kennedy, who was killed in Dallas, Texas, five years earlier while engaging with supporters.

Hines said the fact her husband wasn’t given Secret Service protection when he announced his candidacy caused her concern.

“I was very worried about it,” she said in an interview preview posted Monday.

In July 2024, the Biden administration announced that Kennedy would receive federal protection following an assassination attempt on Republican candidate Donald Trump.

In April 2023, Kennedy declared his intention to seek the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, just as his father and uncle did in the 1960s. However, six months later, he chose to run as an independent. He eventually withdrew from the race in August 2024 to endorse Trump.

That doesn’t mean her 71-year-old spouse is in the clear, according to Hines.

“[I’m] still worried about it,” she confessed.

The 60-year-old actor told CBS she suspects her husband makes her feel safe by withholding information that might cause concern.

“I don’t think Bobby tells me all of the threats that he gets,” Hines said.

Kennedy told podcaster Joe Rogan in June 2023 he doesn’t fear being assassinated, but he thinks about it.

“I’m not stupid about it and I take precautions,” Kennedy said.
