A fire at a three-story apartment building in Los Angeles forced residents to evacuate Thursday morning and brought a major response from firefighters.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said the blaze began in the basement of the building on Kingsley Drive in East Hollywood shortly before 4:30 a.m.
About 160 firefighters responded as the flames rapidly spread to apartments on all three floors. LAFD officials said the fire was also moving through the building’s walls.
Aerial video from AIR7 showed heavy smoke rising from the structure while flames erupted from windows in several apartments.
