Meghan teams up with charity as she dons their special-edition jumper

Meghan Markle has been named the new face of Los Angeles charity Moms Offering More, adding another initiative to her ongoing philanthropic work supporting single mothers.

The Duchess of Sussex, 45, has joined forces with the organisation to create a special-edition sweatshirt in cream and chocolate brown.

Priced at £76 (US$100), the jumper features the words “It’s the little things” embroidered across the back and one sleeve, a message presumably selected by Meghan.

Moms Offering More, which receives support from the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation, provides single mothers with access to food security, childcare and financial assistance. The charity announced the collaboration on Instagram on Sunday.

To mark the launch, it posted a black-and-white image of the Duchess wearing the limited-edition sweatshirt beneath a tree, with her back turned towards the camera.

Meghan also shared an image of herself modelling the design, styling it with a blue-and-white pinstripe shirt and a chunky silver ring.

The mother of two wrote: “Small acts of care can make a big difference for parents, for caregivers, for moms.

“This International Day of the Girl, I’m proud of the way we are showing up, including with our Archewell Philanthropies collaboration with @momsofferingmore supporting families alongside @allianceofmoms and @allianceforchildrensrights.”

“As Moms Offering More says: ‘It’s the little things.’ And all of those ‘little things’ ladder up to big support.”

The initiative was founded by Kasondra Herrendorf-Cohen and is powered by a collective of women known as the “MOM Army”.

It supports families experiencing severe economic hardship across the US and Canada by offering wrap-around services to organisations that assist single mothers.

The collaboration follows the Duchess’s appearance with Malala Yousafzai, when the pair were photographed sharing a warm embrace after afternoon tea at Claridge’s in London last week.

On Sunday, International Day of the Girl, Meghan also announced that all net profits from her As Ever teas and jams would be donated to the Malala Fund for one day.

Meghan and Malala announced the partnership in a joint Instagram statement, accompanied by two photographs of the pair enjoying afternoon tea.

In one image, the women smile at the camera in front of an array of freshly baked cakes. In the second, they are pictured holding hands.

The statement read: “When we support the girls of today, we empower the women of tomorrow. Access to education is the key to unlocking this.” – Meghan, Duchess of Sussex & Malala Yousafzai.

“This International Day of the Girl, in partnership with Archewell Philanthropies, 100% of net proceeds from As Ever jams and teas will support Malala Fund and its vital work to ensure that every girl has access to free, safe, quality education.”

‘Tea for Two has never felt so good. Shop at asever.com.’

Meghan and Malala dined in Claridge’s world-famous Foyer and Reading Room, where afternoon tea costs £95 per person.

Champagne is available for £30 more but Malala, a Muslim who does not drink alcohol, and Meghan appeared to stick to tea and mineral water.

The women first joined forces in October 2020 for a virtual discussion on International Day of the Girl, when they spoke about girls’ education.

Meghan said on the call: ‘When young girls have access to education, everyone wins, and everyone succeeds. It just opens the door for societal success at the highest level.

‘What I had realised very early on was that when women have a seat at the table, conversations in terms of policy change, conversations in terms of legislation and the dynamics of the community are all shifted.

‘And when you have to see how you get a woman to embrace her voice, you have to start with where she is a young girl.’

Following their conversation, Malala said: ‘Meghan and I are on the same page: we both believe that when girls have access to education, everyone wins.’

The Malala Fund, which was founded in 2013, aims to provide every girl with 12 years of safe and free education.

It targets regions where young girls face severe educational barriers, including Afghanistan, Brazil, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Tanzania.

The London meet-up is believed to have been Meghan’s first public appearance in the capital since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

She wore a camel Tove Studio coat worth £1,695, a £630 cashmere sweater in wheat by LA-based label CO and Ralph Lauren’s £1,700 white satin Masina trousers.

She carried a black Chanel handbag worth around £7,000 and wore £795 Saint Laurent ivory and tan ‘Chris’ loafers.

Around her neck was Logan Hollowell’s Lovers Duet Diamond and Emerald Chain necklace, valued at £16,200. Her entire outfit came to just more than £28,000.
