A Missouri nurse was discovered dead at her home only weeks after her husband, a well-known anesthesiologist in the state, acknowledged in court that he had violently assaulted another woman, newly surfaced records show.
Alexandra “Allie” Hummel, 36, of New London, was found unresponsive inside her residence on Lone Cedar Drive on June 23 after a 911 call was placed, the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office said.
Officials have said the investigation into the nurse’s death is still active, and authorities have shared only limited information in the weeks since she was found.
Her husband has not been charged with, or accused of, any criminal conduct or wrongdoing related to her death.
Court filings obtained by Fox News Digital show that Dr. Andrew Hummel pleaded guilty in March 2026 to assaulting a woman — roughly three months before his wife was pronounced dead in their home.
The case against him arose from a July 2025 incident in which he was arrested after allegedly strangling and hitting a woman in the face, a woman described in records as someone with whom he was “in a continuing relationship of romantic nature,” according to the outlet.
A police report obtained by WGEM News states that Woodson Terrace police officers were called last year to a Hilton Hotel on Natural Bridge Road in St. Louis following reports of a domestic disturbance.
Investigators said they were informed that screams and shouting could be heard coming from a room rented by Hummel and the alleged victim, whose name is not included in the court documents.

Police found Hummel with a bleeding cut on his hand and reported seeing blood on the bed inside the hotel room, according to the report.
While officers spoke with Hummel, the alleged victim was found in the women’s restroom in the hotel lobby. Police reported that she had a swollen lip and said the pair had argued before he physically assaulted her.
The victim told police the confrontation turned violent, alleging that Hummel strangled her repeatedly until she could no longer breathe.
Officers also spoke with a hotel guest in a neighboring room who said they heard a woman scream ‘get off me’ several times. The guest said the disturbing noises continued both before and after they reported the incident to the front desk.
As part of the court’s order, Hummel was required to remain employed or enrolled in school full time while maintaining his sobriety, according to the outlet.
He was also ordered to complete alcohol and drug, mental health, domestic violence and batterer intervention assessments and programs.
Weeks after pleading guilty to two counts of fourth-degree assault – both Class A misdemeanors – the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Alexandra’s residence reporting a medical emergency.
The caller also requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS), according to the department. A deputy and members of the New London Fire Department arrived to assist with the emergency response.
