Olivia Wilde fires off on 'creature' Elon Musk, recalls meeting him

Olivia Wilde has sharply criticized Elon Musk, calling the tech billionaire a “creature” as she reflected on meeting him years ago in Los Angeles.

The 42-year-old actress and filmmaker said Monday that her view of Musk has dramatically changed, admitting she now feels deep resentment toward the “trillionaire” and never imagined he would take the direction he has.

“I really resent him now — I really deeply resent him,” Wilde said during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast.

Wilde recalled first crossing paths with Musk “many, many years ago,” around the time SpaceX had recently established its headquarters in Los Angeles. She said she was invited to tour the facility because she was curious to see the rocket ships up close.

That encounter, she said, came “before he turned into this creature.” Wilde added that Musk had expressed interest at the time in donating to an organization she was involved with in Haiti, which was focused on building hospitals and schools.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Wilde and Musk’s company Tesla for additional comment.

Speaking on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Wilde said her meeting with Musk took place “before he turned into this creature” and that she “would never have predicted he would go down the path he has gone down.” Musk is pictured in 2023.

Wilde believes Musk ‘did donate a little bit of money’ at the time which she ‘appreciated.’

She went on: ‘I was confused by him. I would never have predicted he would go down the path he has gone down. He did seem really smart.’

One of the issues Wilde takes exception to is what she sees as Musk’s promotion of misogynistic incel culture including the notion that men are more powerful than nature.

The former House star cited Musk’s statements ‘about how we don’t have enough people and the world is underpopulated and we could handle another billion people.’

Indeed, the South African-born entrepreneur whose portfolio also includes Tesla remarked in 2022 that the world faces an underpopulation crisis that could forever change human life on Earth.

And in 2017 he suggested that the number of people on Earth is ‘accelerating towards collapse but few seem to notice or care’.

In Wilde’s directorial debut Don’t Worry Darling, actor Chris Pine played a character which she says was inspired by Canadian psychologist and author Jordan Peterson.

While promoting the film, she dubbed Peterson a ‘pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community’ and defined incels as ‘disenfranchised, mostly white men, who believe they are entitled to sex from women.’

However, in her interview with Theroux, she characterized her past labeling of Peterson as ‘a pseudo-intellectual’ as ‘unfair.’

She said of Peterson: ‘He obviously thinks about things deeply, but I just feel that he operates in a way that is a buttoned-up version of the type of thinkers that lead to the Andrew Tates of the world.’

‘There are different layers to that community, some of whom speak more clearly the points they are all actually filtering through.’

The actress, who shares two children with ex Jason Sudeikis, explained that her ‘issue with Peterson is a lot of people who are not in any way misogynist have adopted this sanitized version of the same philosophy that’s rooted in deep misogyny and weaponized by the incel community – the basic point of it is entitlement to power.’

‘I was disturbed by what I saw as this misogyny that was being weaponized and leading us to elect Donald Trump twice and beyond that just empower these groups of people who I think are dangerous.’

Peterson responded to Wilde’s 2022 remarks in a tearful interview with Piers Morgan.

‘People have been after me for a long time because I’ve been speaking to disaffected men – and what a terrible thing to do that is,’ he said.

‘I thought the marginalized were supposed to have a voice.’

He went on: ‘You get these casual insults, like ‘you incels’. What does that even mean?’

‘These men don’t know how to make themselves attractive to women and they are picky. And good for them, women you be picky, that’s your gift. Demand high standards from your man, fair enough.

‘But all these men who are alienated it’s like, they’re lonesome and they don’t know what to do and everyone piles abuse on them,’ he said.
