Pringles fans who have watched a perfectly stacked crisp snap under the weight of salsa may soon have one less snack-time annoyance to deal with.
The brand is rolling out a new line of thicker, sturdier and wavier potato chips made specifically for dipping, billed by Pringles as its first product ever designed with dips in mind.
Named Pringles Dippers, the new snacks feature a tougher, scoop-like shape built to handle anything from a modest swipe of dip to a more determined plunge into the bowl.
The Pringles Dippers range will launch in three flavors — original, french onion and bacon cheddar — and is set to arrive at retailers across the US in September.
The launch follows years of debate among snack lovers over whether the brand’s signature curved potato crisps are really strong enough for dipping.
In one Reddit thread about what to eat with Pringles, several users pointed to the same issue: the crisps can be too delicate for thicker dips and spreads.
‘Pringles are not ideal for dipping in general,’ one commenter wrote, while another warned they would ‘crumble the minute they hit a dip.’
A third user joked that a 2025 Pringle would struggle to stand up to ‘anything thicker than air.’

Others suggested swapping Pringles for sturdier alternatives such as wavy or kettle-style chips instead.
Now, the company appears to have taken note.
According to Pringles, Dippers have a unique scoopy, curvy shape that is thicker and structurally sturdier than its standard crisps.
The company says the design is intended to make the snack better suited to holding dips without breaking, while retaining the familiar parabolic shape that has made Pringles instantly recognizable.
The original version delivers the familiar salty and savory Pringles flavor, while french onion combines caramelized onion notes with a creamy, tangy flavor.
For something more indulgent, bacon cheddar combines bold cheese with smoky bacon.
And while the new chips are being marketed specifically as dipping vessels, Pringles says they can also be eaten straight from the can.
‘We know it can be frustrating if your typical salty dipping vessel prevents your perfect scoop or breaks as you dip, which is why we’ve created Pringles Dippers,’ said Eileen Flaherty-Yao, senior director of Salty, Mars Snacking North America.
‘Our iconic parabolic shape is now thicker and wavier than ever – built to handle any dipping style from light dips to heavy scoops.’

The products are due to arrive on shelves nationwide beginning in September.
The company isn’t stopping with sturdier crisps. It is also expanding its Pringles Mingles range with a new Sweet & Salty flavor.
The bowtie-shaped puffed snacks are inspired by the style of Pringles mascot Mr P and have a light, airy texture.
The new version combines buttery sweetness with a salty finish, giving fans another option beyond the traditional potato crisp.
Both launches are part of a broader push by Pringles to experiment with unusual formats and flavors rather than simply sticking to its familiar cans of curved crisps.
