Reese Witherspoon’s father John Draper Witherspoon was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Friday in Nashville, per Page Six.
Reese Witherspoon’s 84-year-old father, John Draper Witherspoon, was reportedly found face down near the pool at his Nashville condo after a nearby resident spotted him from a balcony, a source told the outlet.
According to the account, the resident quickly notified the building’s doorman, who went to the pool area and discovered Witherspoon’s father, prompting a call to emergency services.
“The doorman and building manager rolled him over and they said, ‘Dr. Witherspoon, are you okay?’ He blinked his eyes, and that’s when he was rushed to the hospital,” the insider claimed.
Nashville Metro confirmed to Page Six that a medical incident had taken place at the building, though officials did not identify the person involved.
Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Reese Witherspoon for comment but has not yet received a response.

Witherspoon later addressed the reported incident in a message posted to her Instagram Stories on Friday.
‘Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall,’ she wrote.
‘I want to let everyone know that he is fine now. He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses. Thank you to everyone who reached out. It means the world to our family.’
Witherspoon’s father and mother Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ both worked in the medical field.
John had also been a lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve when she was younger.
‘My dad was stationed in Germany when I was a little girl,’ the actress told The New York Times’ podcast The Interview last year. ‘And so, the first five years of my life I grew up on an air force base.’
The Legally Blonde star recalled attending school in Germany and called it ‘a great upbringing in terms of exposure to other languages and other cultures.
‘But also to all these medical service people that were working in the hospitals. My mother was a nurse, my dad was a doctor.’

Witherspoon later was raised by her parents in Nashville alongside her older brother John.
During a past interview with Vanity Fair, the actress reflected on how her strong motivation comes from her mother and father.
‘You wonder where all my drive comes from?’ she questioned. ‘My dad scored a perfect score on his S.A.T.’s and a perfect score on his MCATS, and graduated at the top of his class from Yale.
‘My mom has five or six degrees. My brother and I both went to college, but neither one of us graduated.’
Witherspoon notably was accepted into Stanford University, but would later drop out after one year.
The Morning Show star shared that her parents were supportive as she pursued her passion for acting.
‘My parents were always incredibly supportive. They thought it was a hobby for the first four years,’ she added.
Witherspoon’s parents separated in 1996, but it didn’t come to light until 2012.
Betty had reportedly filed a bigamy lawsuit against John that year after learning he had remarried despite them still being wed, per Page Six. She had requested that his second marriage be annulled.

The actress’s mother later told Women’s Day back in 2018 that both she and John were back together.
‘He has moved back in with me,’ she said at the time, before adding that they are ‘still married,’ per People.
Witherspoon’s parents had been in attendance at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006 when she won the Best Actress honor based on her performance in the film Walk The Line.
‘I’m so blessed to have my family here tonight,’ she expressed during her speech. ‘My mother and my father are here.
‘I just want to say thank you so much for everything, for being so proud of me. It didn’t matter if I was making my bed or making a movie.’
The star continued, ‘They never hesitated to say how proud they were of me. And that means so very much to a child.’
