The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that after shooting a man, the attacker began assaulting him physically before being dragged away and departing in a dark SUV.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 40s is on the mend following a shooting incident at a bus stop on Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville early Saturday, as confirmed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO Sgt. Mitlyng, law enforcement responded to the scene at the JTA bus stop located at Normandy Boulevard and Mikael Avenue shortly after 6:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, Mitlyng informed First Coast News.

The initial investigation by JSO suggests that the suspect approached the man at the bus stop and, for reasons yet to be determined, opened fire.

“After the shooting, the suspect continued to physically assault the victim until an unidentified person pulled him into a nearby dark SUV, which then sped away,” Mitlyng explained.

Mitlyng further explained that the shooter arrived at the scene in the SUV before the shooting occurred.

JSO said it did not have a description of the SUV, nor a description of the suspect.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
