President Trump shared a map on Truth Social on Sunday that appeared to rename New Mexico as “New America,” one of dozens of posts he fired off in a fast-moving social media burst.
The image, posted during a stretch in which Trump published 34 times in under an hour, showed the southwestern state with “Mexico” crossed out and replaced by “America.”
If embraced by the president, the proposed New Mexico name change would follow other America-branded renaming efforts, including his orders to redesignate the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and Lake Ontario as Lake America.
Trump renamed the Gulf of America after returning to office in January 2025, saying the move was intended to “honor American greatness.”

The president also changed the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America in an executive order issued late last month, amid an escalating trade war between the US and Canada, the two countries that border the lake.
The president’s Truth Social storm also included a photo of the commander-in-chief’s face superimposed over wrestler Hulk Hogan, with a “MAGA” bandana photoshopped onto his head.
Another post showed the borders of Iran reshaped in an outline of the president’s head as the US’ war with the Middle Eastern country continued past the six-month mark.
Also featured in the posting were a series of graphs showing purported economic gains made by the admin.
