Trump reveals why 'traitor' Marjorie Taylor Greene really quit

Former President Donald Trump has publicly criticized Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, labeling her a ‘traitor’ and alleging that she distanced herself from him after he chose not to respond to her persistent calls.

Trump’s comments were made in a fiery post on his Truth Social platform following Greene’s unexpected announcement of her resignation.

Introducing a new moniker, ‘Marjorie “Traitor” Brown,’ Trump suggested that Greene’s decision to step down from Congress in January was due to her ‘declining poll numbers.’

He further speculated that Greene opted out of re-election to avoid facing a ‘primary challenger with a strong Trump endorsement,’ claiming she would stand no chance of victory.

‘For some reason, primarily because I did not respond to her incessant phone calls, Marjorie went downhill,’ Trump remarked.

He concluded by expressing his gratitude, stating, ‘Nonetheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie and thank her for her service to our country! President DJT.’

Greene publicly broke with Trump earlier this year over the White House’s bungled release of the ‘Epstein files’, joining other rebel Republicans including Rep. Thomas Massie in crossing party lines.

Trump cited Greene’s partnership with Massie in his Truth Social post, branding him ‘the WORST Republican Congressman in decades’ and saying their relationship ‘did not help her.’

Greene stunned Washington DC with her announcement on Friday night that she will resign from Congress at the start of 2026.

After Greene shared a 10-minute video branding Trump ‘hateful’, the president called into ABC News to celebrate her decision to leave office.

‘I think it’s great news for the country,’ Trump said in his brief phone call.

‘It’s great.’

Trump also said Greene had not reached out or told him of her decision before she made the announcement.

‘Nah, it doesn’t matter, you know but I think it’s great. I think she should be happy,’ Trump said.

Greene had insisted for months that she remained a fervent Trump supporter despite her break from the president over the Epstein files release.

But their relationship shattered last week when Trump publicly withdrew his endorsement of the Georgia Rep., dismissing her as a ‘ranting lunatic.’

Greene said Trump’s move against her was an example of growing disgust within the political establishment of her, and said Americans were being used as ‘pawns in an endless game of division.’

Before her break with Trump, Greene (seen embracing the president in March 2025) had been one of the most outspoken MAGA supporters in Congress

She said that it would be unfair for her ‘sweet little district’ to ‘endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for’ and even added that ‘Republicans will likely lose the midterms’.

Greene went on to claim she has ‘always been despised in Washington, DC, and just never fit in’.

The Republican also said that she was leaving to spend more time with her family amid constant death threats she claimed she received in the wake of her clash with with the president.

She said her last day would be January 5, 2026 – two days after congressional pension becomes fully vested.

Greene expressed profound frustration with her own party’s inability to get anything done despite controlling the presidency and both houses of Congress in 2025.

‘Almost one year into our majority, the legislature has been mostly sidelined, we endured an eight week shutdown wrongly resulting in the House not working for the entire time, and we are entering campaign season which means all courage leaves and only safe campaign re-election mode is turned on,’ she said.
