Presley Gerber reportedly died from a suspected overdose at an upscale rehabilitation center whose website highlights its location in a “prestigious northern section” of Santa Monica. However, some residents on the affluent street say they are unhappy about having the treatment facility in their neighborhood.
News of Presley’s death was announced Sunday. The son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber had reportedly spent years dealing with drug addiction, panic attacks and mental health challenges before entering treatment.
Emergency services were called to Resolutions Living, where Presley was later found dead. One neighbor recalled the distressing events and also spoke about what they described as growing friction around the luxury rehab center.
A resident who lives two homes away from the facility told Our News Outlet: “I saw the ambulance Sunday morning. It’s really sad, but it’s not the first time ambulances have come here.
“It’s a rehab facility, so what do you expect? Nobody wanted a rehab or halfway house on our block, but there was very little we could do about it.”
Resolutions Living was founded and is owned by Dr. Reza Nabavi, who also serves as its clinical director. The neighbor criticized the physician while describing how the treatment operation had expanded across the area.

The resident said: “The man who bought the property got it for a good price. Then, when the house next door came onto the market, he bought that one as well. Now there are two large homes side by side, and they are both very nice properties.
“I believe there are at least seven beds in each house, possibly more. He added a pickleball court at the second property, so we now hear pickleball being played practically around the clock.”
Local zoning provisions and federal protections, including the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, generally prevent municipalities from banning such facilities or imposing rules that unfairly target them. As a result, nearby homeowners often have limited options when a rehab or sober-living residence opens next door.
The neighbor told Our News Outlet: “Because it’s a rehab, similar to a halfway house, there are laws against discrimination. That is why they were permitted to set one up here.
“When the third house went up for sale, I thought, ‘Oh no, he’s going to expand the rehab again.’ I worried that eventually the entire block could become a treatment center.”
A halfway house is a transitional residence designed to help people return to everyday life after leaving a restrictive setting, such as prison, a psychiatric hospital or an addiction treatment program.
Despite the neighbor’s description, a halfway house is not the same as a rehabilitation center. Halfway houses are commonly managed by a house supervisor or support staff, while rehabs typically operate with doctors, nurses and licensed therapists. They also follow structured programs that can include supervised medical detox and tightly monitored schedules.
Our News Outlet has contacted Dr. Reza Nabavi and representatives of Resolutions Home for comment but has not received a response.

The three-story luxury residence is described on its website as offering spacious rooms, outdoor seating, a private movie theater, a fitness center and sweeping views of Santa Monica, the city and nearby mountains.
Gerber, pictured in January, had spoken publicly about his decade-long struggles with drug addiction and reportedly entered the facility the night before he was pronounced dead from a suspected overdose.
According to the Resolutions Home website, the home is ‘located in the prestigious northern section of the city, our beautiful three-story luxury property features breathtaking views of the ocean and city lights, while remaining nestled away in a safe and discreet neighborhood.’
In their mission statement, the co-ed facility aims to ‘provide the structure, recreational opportunities, life skills, vocational coaching, accountability, and community necessary to support men and women in their journey to recovery from mental health, addiction, and co-occurring disorders.’
The three-story luxury residence features spacious living quarters, outdoor seating areas, an in-home movie theater and a fitness gym.
The website boasts that residents will receive daily chef-prepared meals, fully stocked pantries, and says an on-site staff is there to support patients 24 hours a day so that they can focus primarily on working toward recovery.
There are also planned communal gatherings, including dinners, movie nights and other outings with fellow residents.
It remains uncertain how much Gerber was paying to stay at the facility, but according to Westwind Recovery, in premium coastal neighborhoods like Santa Monica and Malibu, luxury sober living costs generally range from $5,000 to more than $15,000 per month.
Gerber, who has been open about his decade-long drug addiction issues, had checked into the facility the night before he was pronounced dead from a suspected drug overdose, TMZ reported on Monday.

Hours later, a Santa Monica Police Department spokesperson confirmed to Our News Outlet that emergency services were called on Sunday morning to a luxury rehab facility Presley had been staying at – before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9.35am, Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased,’ the statement read.
‘SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation remains ongoing.’
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not determined the official cause of death yet, but the autopsy was completed as of Monday morning, and Presley’s body was ready for release.
Per TMZ, Presley – whose sister is 25-year-old model and rising actress Kaia Gerber – had been staying in a separate house on the grounds of the LA rehab, and had roommates.
