A 13-year-old boy’s visit to Disneyland took an unexpected turn Sunday when he was hospitalized after allegedly getting out of a ride vehicle on one of the resort’s best-known attractions.
The incident happened on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, where a Disneyland Resort official told The California Post the teen exited the vehicle before the ride had come to a complete end. Online accounts from parkgoers claimed the boy then slid down the attraction’s signature 50-foot drop.
“I was in the ride when this happened I actually saw the kid fall down the hill for a second when our log passed the fall. 4 people in our log saw it and then one minute later the ride stopped for probably 10 minutes then it started again we went throughout the ride like nothing happened,” one Reddit user wrote while describing the scene.
“When we got off there were about 6 Disney police and a mother and two kids were with them all soaked,” the user added.
According to a resort official who spoke with The Post, a Disneyland employee immediately shut down the ride, which was formerly known as Splash Mountain. The teen was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and was later released.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reopened Monday and was operating without further issues after officials with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, or Cal/OSHA, inspected the attraction, The Post learned.
