A 24-year-old man and his 50-year-old father, accused of carrying out a terror attack in Australia last Sunday, faced formal charges on Wednesday, as outlined in recent news statements.
The younger man is confronted with charges that include “15 counts of murder” and “40 counts of causing wounding or grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.” Additional allegations encompass committing a terrorist act, discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous harm, displaying a prohibited terrorist organization’s symbol publicly, and placing explosives near a building with the intent to harm, according to the reports.

Law enforcement shot the father, who “died at the scene,” while the son, suffering from “critical injuries,” remains in the hospital, as per the releases.
The tragic shooting claimed 15 lives, with several others injured, including two officers who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident.
Authorities have indicated that the victims who lost their lives were aged between “10 and 87,” according to the statements.

The attack “was an act of pure evil,” “antisemitism,” and “terrorism” that was “deliberately targeted at the Jewish community on the first day of Hanukkah,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said.
