() Retired Air Force Lt. Gen Newton believes the bombing of three of Iran’s nuclear sites on Saturday could be “good for humanity.”

Minutes after President Donald Trump announced the news, Newton praised the decision while on ” Prime.”

“I presume that if those nuclear weapons sites are taken down, that means Iran is very close to being out of the nuclear weapons development business, at least for not just the short term, but I believe, for the long term as well,” Newton explained.

“That’s good for Israel. It’s good for the United States. Frankly, it’s good for our Gulf air partners, and frankly, this is good for humanity.”

Newton also explained why he believed the Middle East as we know it could be irreparably altered following the attacks.

“This is an extraordinary moment for not only Israel, certainly, but the United States. I think the Middle East has really changed forever at this point, should we have been successful.”

Newton is familiar with the B-2 bombers utilized in the attack on Iran. He was the first B-2 stealth bomber squadron commander in the mid-1990s.

He explained to that this mission was likely to be around the 30-hour mark, and noted the United States is the only nation to have these 30,000lb bunker busters. Each B-2, Newton says, can carry two at a time.

“It’s being precision guided by very technical means to make it as precise as possible, where the pilots want to direct the bomb, it burrows in, and then, as with the delayed fuse, it goes off,” he explained.

“You’re trying to create an earthquake and by creating that earthquake, get a seismic condition and that causes those tremors.

“The first 30,000 pounder goes in softens up the target, even though it’s hardened and they’re 250 to 300 feet in the ground with surrounded by three feet of concrete. Nonetheless, in that second bunker buster goes in there, and that really is the one that completes the deal.”
