CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police reported that two separate shootings in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on Thursday night resulted in three fatalities and one injury.
The first shooting took place at about 10:09 p.m.in the 300-block of South Maplewood Avenue.
Police said two 38-year-old men were standing outside when a male suspect approached on foot, took out a gun and shot at them.
Both victims were transported to hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.
The second shooting took place at about 10:47 p.m. in the 3900-block of West Gladys Avenue.
Police said a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were outside when a male suspect took out a gun and fired in their direction.
The woman was shot multiple times and transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Earlier this week, Mayor Brandon Johnson and Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling convened with community members on the West Side to address the issue of rising gun violence.
No one is in custody in connection with either shooting and Area Four detectives are investigating.
