DoorDash Grandma Hard at Work: Thanks Trump for 'No Tax on Tips' on McDonald's Delivery to Oval Office

During Tax Week, key figures such as U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler have been actively promoting the “Working Families Tax Cut,” a significant component of the One Big Beautiful Law (OBBL) championed by President Donald Trump and Congress. However, a DoorDash driver who delivered a McDonald’s order directly to the Oval Office has perhaps best illustrated the tangible effects of these policies, surpassing any official statement.

Tax Refunds Skyrocket: New Deductions Offer Relief as Democrats Criticize

Sharon Simmons, affectionately known as “DoorDash Grandma,” made her first delivery to the prestigious address of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and seized the opportunity to make an impact.

Upon arrival, Simmons was personally greeted by President Trump at the Oval Office’s outer doors. In a brief exchange, she shared her motivation for taking on this particular delivery. Simmons expressed her surprise and satisfaction, noting that the simplified tax reporting under the new law had saved her over $11,000. “It was very surprising,” she remarked.

President Trump was quick to respond with enthusiasm, suggesting, “We should call it the ‘Great Big Beautiful Tax Cut Bill!'”

Impressed by Simmons’ story, Trump invited her to participate in an impromptu press conference, to which she readily agreed.

Trump asked her if she’d be willing to do an impromptu presser, and she agreed.

Simmons then let the president know just how much the No Tax on Tips policy had made a difference for her and her family.

“I want to thank you for the No Tax on Tips,” she said. “It has helped my family out immensely, and I definitely appreciate it.”

Simmons mentioned that her husband had written a book, and Trump let them get a plug in. How cool is that?

Simmons told the DoorDash company:

“It was an incredible honor to represent Dashers from all over the country at the White House today. Thanks to DoorDash, I have been able to provide for my family while keeping the schedule that works best for me, something I never thought would be possible. Now No Tax on Tips has taken things to the next level, letting me keep more of the tips I earn and deserve. Today is a celebration of the advocacy of thousands of Dashers from around the country who fought to ensure we were included in this policy.”

A year later, the difference that the OBBL with its Working Families Tax Cut is making in the lives of everyday citizens is now coming to the forefront. This marketing coup by the Trump administration and DoorDash is sure to reap dividends, and there will be many more stories like Sharon Simmons’ to glean from.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and bold policies, America’s economy is back on track.
