Greta Thunberg's alleged jail complaints called 'brazen lies' by Israeli government

Allegations by Greta Thunberg claiming she endured hours on harsh surfaces in a bedbug-ridden Israeli detention center without sufficient food and water have been dismissed as “brazen lies” by Israel’s Foreign Ministry.

As per Swedish Foreign Ministry communications seen by The Guardian, Thunberg reported to officials she developed rashes likely due to bedbugs.

The activist was also said to have complained of dehydration.

A letter shared with Thunberg’s parents reportedly mentioned her “harsh and exhausting” experiences following her detainment by Israeli authorities during her participation in the Gaza-directed Global Sumud Flotilla aid mission.

Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir labeled the flotilla participants as “supporters of terrorism” and expressed pride that they faced the conditions akin to those of terrorist detainees.

At age 22, Thunberg was part of about 450 activists from over 12 nations detained after the Israeli navy ceased the 42-boat Global Sumud Flotilla on October 1.

The convoy, which departed from Turkey a day earlier, sought to breach Israel’s maritime blockade of Gaza and deliver symbolic humanitarian aid.

Other activists, such as Turkish journalist and flotilla participant Ersin Çelik, told Anadolu Agency that guards “dragged little Greta by her hair, beat her, and forced her to kiss the Israeli flag.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the Swedish Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Foreign Ministry for comment.
