Lindsay Clancy holdout juror's lawyer torches 'Looney Tunes motion' to investigate him

Michael Desronvil, the lone juror who favored convicting Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy in the strangling deaths of her three children, said in his first televised interview that he had “a lot of evidence” supporting his position. He refused to join the 11 other jurors who wanted to find Clancy not criminally responsible.

“There were moments as we were deliberating,” Desronvil told Fox News anchor Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday. He declined to discuss specific details, while the next steps in Clancy’s case remain uncertain.

Desronvil was the only member of the 12-person jury to vote for a conviction. The other 11 jurors concluded that Clancy was not criminally responsible because of a mental disease or defect.

Desronvil has previously said the public’s attention should remain on Clancy’s children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan — who were each strangled with exercise bands.

Following the mistrial on Sept. 4, several jurors said in interviews that Desronvil appeared determined to convict Clancy despite having his own reasonable doubts about the prosecution’s case.

Desronvil has rejected those accusations and repeated that denial during Wednesday’s interview.

“I had a lot of evidence to back up my claim,” he said. “But because out of respect of the other jurors in the court system, I will put that to sleep for now until, you know, they go through the process.”

Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, has requested an investigation into the holdout juror, whom he has described as an “obstructionist.”

Reddington asked Judge William Sullivan to preserve records involving all 12 jurors and six alternates. The requested materials include juror questionnaires, surveillance footage from the courthouse hallway outside the deliberation room and cellphone sign-in sheets.

The defense is also seeking the holdout juror’s questionnaire, any supplemental filings, probation records and “Juror Doe’s record from the statewide domestic violence registry.” Reddington wants the judge to order prosecutors to disclose whether they had contact with the juror as a defendant, complainant or subject dating back to January 2021.

He also requested Desronvil’s phone records for the hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on each day of deliberations.

A hearing on the request for an inquiry was postponed after Desronvil hired a Massachusetts attorney.

The judge declared Clancy’s trial a mistrial on Sept. 4 after the jury failed to reach a unanimous decision.

Prosecutors maintained that Clancy acted deliberately and understood that strangling her children one at a time with exercise bands was wrong. Her defense argued that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, had repeatedly sought help without receiving adequate assistance and was therefore not criminally responsible.
