Live Bullet Found on United Flight Prompts Denver Evacuation

A United Airlines flight from Denver to San Diego was held up Thursday after a live bullet was found on board before takeoff, forcing passengers off the aircraft as security teams conducted a sweep.

United Flight 1302 was getting ready to depart Denver International Airport when the round was discovered during routine pre-taxi checks, according to FOX31 Denver, which had a member of its news team on the plane.

“The bad news is we found a live round, a bullet on the airplane,” the speaker said. “This is a security breach here, and everybody is going to have to deplane.”

Travelers were told to exit the Boeing 737-900 and take their carry-on luggage with them while security personnel inspected the aircraft.

“We need everybody to deplane the aircraft with your carry-on bags. We’re going to have to carry out a security sweep of the aircraft after the plane is empty,” the speaker said. “We apologize for this.”

At the time, the crew said it was unclear how the live bullet ended up on the United Airlines aircraft or where it had come from, FOX31 reported.

United Airlines confirmed the security incident in a statement to News Outlet.
