Questions continue to surround the deaths of a mixed martial arts fighter and a mother of two who were found unresponsive in a parked vehicle inside a San Jose State University parking garage, with officials still withholding their causes of death.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Thursday that the victims were 36-year-old Angelo Henry and 30-year-old Deziree Auelua-Misa. Their identities were released weeks after they were discovered inside a car in the university’s West Garage, located near South Fourth and East San Salvador streets.
The troubling scene came to light on the afternoon of May 23, after growing concern that the two had not moved for an extended period while seated in the parked vehicle.
University police Capt. Jermaine Thomas said the car had been noticed earlier that day, but responding officers initially thought the people inside were asleep.
Authorities were contacted only after hours passed without any visible movement from either occupant.

San Jose State University police tried to revive Henry and Auelua-Misa, but both were declared dead at the scene.
Investigators have not disclosed what caused their deaths, and the case remains under active review.
Henry, who was from Seaside in Monterey County, was recognized in the area’s combat sports scene as an MMA fighter and fight promoter. Auelua-Misa, also a Seaside resident, was employed as a hotel food and beverage manager.
Both victims were parents.
A GoFundMe campaign created by Auelua-Misa’s sister has raised more than $24,000 toward its $30,000 goal. According to the fundraiser, Auelua-Misa leaves behind two children, who will receive a portion of the donations.
“As our family grieves her loss, we are also stepping in to make sure her babies are surrounded by love, stability, and support during this heartbreaking transition,” her sister wrote.
