'Jeopardy!' winning streak by NJ's Jamie Ding ends at 31 games

On Monday, the remarkable winning streak of Jamie Ding, hailing from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, came to a close on the iconic game show, “Jeopardy!”

Greg Shahade, a chess master from Philadelphia, emerged victorious in the night’s competition, bringing an end to Ding’s impressive run.

Throughout 31 consecutive victories, Ding amassed an impressive total of over $885,000 in winnings.

Reflecting on the conclusion of his streak, Ding remarked, “The run is over. All good things come to an end. I think we put together some great television.”

With this achievement, Ding now ranks fifth in both the all-time list of consecutive games won and the highest earnings during regular season play.

Additionally, he has secured the seventh spot in the overall earnings category, which includes both regular and tournament play.

He has cheerleaders in his home state of Michigan and his adopted state of New Jersey, along with fans around the world.

“It’s so wonderful,” he says. “It’s very humbling.”

Ding works as a policy and programs analyst for the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency.

On Monday, he joined New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill as she signed an executive order to support first-time homebuyers, and improve overall affordability.

“There’s a there’s a lot of work to do,” says Ding. “I really love being on Jeopardy!, but I’m also excited to get back to work.”

The Princeton University alumnus is currently a law student at Seton Hall University.
