A social media influencer was shot and killed by her husband in an apparent murder-suicide, less than two weeks after she publicly accused him of being a pedophile in a TikTok video, according to reports.
Sara Gilson, 43, had recently joined the “Netflix Documentary” trend on TikTok, in which users frame personal revelations as if they were being interviewed for a streaming true-crime series. In her post, Gilson addressed allegations involving her soon-to-be ex-husband, Shawn Duffey, 48.
“Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile,” Gilson wrote over the video.
She added in the caption: “I wish I was joking #plottwist #netflix #documentary.”
Less than two weeks later, on Thursday, July 23, Gilson and Duffey were found dead inside her home in Owasso, Oklahoma.

A child who lived at the residence called 911, and officers responded to the scene at about 11:15 p.m., KTUL reported. A family member later identified the pair as the victims.
The deaths came after Gilson appeared in court last month seeking to extend an emergency protective order against Duffey, according to People. The order required him to remain at least 100 yards away from his wife and removed him from the home.
In her request for the protective order, Gilson alleged that Duffey had threatened to die by suicide “and went on the run,” The Oklahoman reported.
The same day, another protective order was issued against Duffey by on behalf of a 15-year-old girl who was a member of the youth basketball team he coached.
Duffey allegedly sent the minor inappropriate messages, kissed her and touched her inappropriately, and invited her to his hotel room during a tournament, offering money “to keep her quiet.”
The Owasso Police Department did not immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment.
