A special education teacher accused of urging Black people online to “shoot some guns” and “rob some white people” has been barred from the school where she worked and is now the subject of a police investigation.
Kenisha Daily, a special education teacher with Madera Unified School District, drew alarm over the weekend after posting a series of troubling social media videos in which she spoke about forming what she called a “black militia.” In the clips, Daily appeared to load firearms, including a shotgun and a pistol.
“Starting today, I’m starting a black militia. So if you’re black, if you want to shoot some guns, come find me,” Daily said in footage aired by ABC 30 KFSN. “We’re going to rob some white people.”
Concerned viewers reported the videos to Madera Unified officials on Saturday night, prompting the district to take immediate action.
According to a statement from MUSD, district leaders contacted Fresno authorities out of concern for Daily and for the safety of the surrounding community. Officers later conducted a home visit, which led to a temporary restraining order. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident.
Madera Unified and Madera police also carried out a safety review at Lincoln Elementary School and increased security on campus. Daily has been placed on leave while the investigation moves forward. The district said police and school officials are coordinating with local agencies on longer-term safety steps connected to the case.
“Our Board of Trustees adamantly believes that students, families, and staff all deserve a safe and welcoming school environment. Furthermore, we believe that no staff member has the right to compromise others’ sense of safety,” the district’s statement said.
