WASHINGTON — Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing at least two federal investigations, according to people familiar with the inquiries and an administration official. The probes are examining possible immigration fraud and allegations that the Minnesota Democrat overstated her net worth by tens of millions of dollars in House financial disclosure forms.
Jeanine Pirro, the US attorney for the District of Columbia, confirmed Tuesday on Fox News’ “America Reports” that “there are several investigations going on” involving Omar. Pirro said investigators were reviewing potential civil or criminal immigration violations, as well as Omar’s disclosure that she may be worth as much as $30 million.
People familiar with the investigations said the US attorney’s office in Minnesota is leading the immigration-fraud inquiry. Pirro’s Washington office, meanwhile, is handling the investigation into Omar’s financial disclosures.
Agents with Homeland Security Investigations searched Omar’s Washington bungalow Monday, leaving the property with boxes of materials believed to be evidence for the immigration-related case.

Pirro defended the search of the “Squad” Democrat’s home, saying investigators had obtained a warrant signed by a federal judge.
“There’s no question that that judge would not have signed that warrant unless there was probable cause,” Pirro said. She added that the legal threshold was likely even higher because of the person involved and the fact that the search occurred in the nation’s capital, where federal judges are based.
Grand jury subpoenas have also been served on members of Omar’s family, including her sister, Sahra Noor, The New York Times first reported.
Noor and representatives for Omar did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
