'South Park' to rebrand as 'South America' ahead of season premiere in cheeky jab at President Trump

The team behind “South Park” is taking a pointed jab at President Trump’s recent wave of patriotic renamings, joking that the long-running animated series will be rebranded as “South America” before its season premiere.

In a Tuesday post on X, the hit comedy suggested it was adopting the new title in keeping with Trump’s enthusiastic use of “America” in newly renamed landmarks.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” the show wrote, nodding to the tech companies’ moves to reflect Trump’s executive-order-backed names for the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario.

Trump’s renaming push recast the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and Lake Ontario as Lake America.

The post was accompanied by an altered version of the show’s logo, with the word “America” stamped over “Park” in the familiar “South Park” title card.

The joke continued with a mock thank-you to the show’s parent company, Paramount, which the post derisively described as “A Skydance Capitulation.”

That dig riffed on the company’s full name, Paramount Skydance, while also alluding to a settlement the entertainment giant reached with Trump over a lawsuit he filed last year against Paramount Global — before its merger with Skydance — and CBS.

In that lawsuit, Trump claimed CBS News, a Paramount-owned outlet, edited a “60 Minutes” interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in a way that made her look more favorable.

Paramount ultimately agreed to a $16-million payout.

The renaming is the latest topical joke by “South Park” writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone, whose humor has stirred controversy for years.

An episode parodying Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was briefly removed from cable lineups after he was horrifically gunned down on a college campus in Utah in September 2025.

The award-winning series — set to enter its 29th season — premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 16, on Comedy Central.
