Wild video captures sparks flying as Kalitta Air plane skids on runway at Kentucky airport

Dramatic footage from a Kentucky airport showed sparks shooting from the rear of a Kalitta Air aircraft Sunday after its tail appeared to strike the runway during a tense landing attempt.

Kalitta Air Flight 264 experienced a tail scrape while executing a go-around after trying to land at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The Boeing 777-300ER, which had flown in from Brussels Airport in Belgium, later touched down safely following the unsettling maneuver at about 8:15 p.m. local time, the FAA told The Post in a statement.

Video obtained by Fox19 captured the alarming moment, with a witness heard shouting, “woah, woah, woah, woah golly,” as sparks trailed from the back of the jet while it scraped along the runway before climbing back into the sky.

Kalitta Air Chief Operating Officer Heath Nicholl told the outlet that no crew members were injured, and that the plane was taken out of service for inspection and evaluation after it landed.
