Floribama Shore alum Kirk Medas has passed away at just 33 years old following a terrifying and intense fight with a rare medical condition.
His grieving family confirmed to TMZ that the reality star had been hospitalized last month with a “severe case of necrotizing pancreatitis.”
The distressing announcement followed the rapid decline in Medas’ health. Former co-star Aimee Hall initially shared the sorrowful news on Facebook, though the post was soon removed.
According to Medas’ father, doctors told the family his tragic death was ultimately caused by liver failure.
In a statement to People, MTV expressed their grief over losing one of their own: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a cherished member of the Floribama Shore family. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans during this challenging time.”
Only a day before this news emerged, Hall had informed fans on Instagram about the severity of Kirk’s medical situation. She mentioned that he had been sedated, put on a ventilator, and diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of pancreatitis.
The emotional toll has been huge for his castmates. Both Hall and Nilsa Prowant shared a GoFundMe link created by Medas’ family, initially meant to help with mounting medical costs. The campaign has now been renamed to: “Support Kirk Medas: Funeral Arrangement&Medical”—a grim update that shattered fans.
The GoFundMe page reads: “The donation will help for medical bills and rehab. He has no medical insurance so your donations will be greatly appreciated. Please continue to uplift Kirk in your prayers. Thank you again from the Medas Family.”
Medas’ diagnosis was nothing short of terrifying. According to the Cleveland Clinic:
“Necrotizing pancreatitis happens when pancreatitis inflammation is so severe that it causes tissue death (necrosis). This can cause both short-term and long-term complications.”
Medas appeared on MTV’s Floribama Shore for 25 episodes between 2017 and 2020, becoming a fan favorite thanks to his humor, charisma, and big heart.
Hall’s now-deleted Facebook tribute offered a heartbreaking glimpse into the pain his loved ones are feeling:
“We lost our brother, our best friend, our heart—Kirk.”
She recounted a chilling spiritual moment:
“I was at the beach when I felt it. Before the call even came, a dolphin kept coming up to me, as if to say goodbye. Kirk and I shared a love for dolphins and the ocean, and in that moment, I just knew,” Hall wrote.
“Though my heart is shattered, I find peace in knowing he’s no longer in pain. He’s in heaven now—free, whole, and making everyone laugh the way only he could. Kirk had the kindest soul, a heart full of love for everyone he met, and a spirit that brought people together. He truly was the glue that held us all close.”
Hall’s final memory with Kirk is especially haunting:
“I’ll never forget the moment they placed him on the ventilator, before the coma took hold. I told him I loved him, and tears rolled from his eyes. That memory will stay with me forever,” she said.
“I already miss his voice, his laughter, his presence. The world feels a little dimmer without him—but I know I’ll see my best friend again someday. Until then, I’ll carry him in my heart. Always.”
