CHICAGO (WLS) — Residents across the Chicago area are cleaning up after a round of severe storms moved through Wednesday, leaving behind widespread damage.

In the West Beverly neighborhood, multiple trees and power lines were reported down along Fairfield Avenue between 100th and 101st streets.
Additional video from the area showed trees that had fallen onto homes and vehicles.
Snapped limbs and uprooted trees were scattered across streets, creating blocked roads and a significant cleanup effort.
Neighbors are being advised to drive carefully through affected streets and watch for debris and downed wires.
The South Shore Line said service was suspended through the Thursday morning rush hour following a freight train derailment and a loss of power.
In south suburban Plainfield, police said they were aware of a “major water issue” affecting the area between 135th and 127th streets.
Police said the Village of Plainfield Water Department has been notified and is working to reduce the impact.

In northwest Indiana, many communities also woke up Thursday with downed trees and power lines.
According to Griffith police Department, there are trees and limbs down in multiple areas, with many streets currently blocked.
They ask people living in the area to avoid unnecessary travel, while crews work to clear roads and respond to calls for service.
Merrillville is also dealing with more flooding and power outages just days after the area was hit by an EF-2 tornado.
ABC7’s Jaisol Martinez said the weather will be clear and calm for any cleanup needed on Thursday.
