Leeland Harris, a 16-year-old Georgia teen and aspiring music producer, saw some of his biggest dreams come true before his death from bone cancer, including meeting beloved artists and receiving a home music studio.
ATLANTA — A metro Atlanta teenager whose love of music moved an entire community has died after a fight with bone cancer, just days after meeting rapper Ludacris and several other musicians he deeply admired.
Harris, 16, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. But according to his family, the disease never became the defining part of his life. They described him as a self-taught musician and producer who poured hours into learning piano, experimenting with sound and creating music of his own.
As his story gained attention across metro Atlanta, support from the local music community quickly grew. Harris met Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris backstage at a concert, spent time with rapper Young Dro and received a home visit from dancehall artist Sean Paul.

Roughly a week before he died, Make-A-Wish Georgia helped deliver another unforgettable moment: a fully equipped music studio set up inside Harris’ home.
His family said they kept seeking additional treatment options throughout his illness and held on to hope for as long as they could.
Now, they hope Harris’ story encourages others to chase their passions and serves as a reminder of what can happen when a community unites to lift up someone in need.
