The tragic passing of a well-known elderly figure in New York City’s Jewish community, who was also a veteran kosher bakery owner, has been officially classified as a homicide. Found shot near a lake in Queens, the incident has sent ripples through the community.
Authorities discovered 75-year-old Albert Itzkowitz’s body with gunshot wounds to his neck and back along the shoreline of Kissena Lake in Flushing shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday, according to the NYPD.
The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on Thursday that his death was indeed a homicide, as announced by police.
The police are actively seeking assistance from the public to shed light on this tragic killing. In an effort to gather information, Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,500 for any leads related to the case.
Currently, there is no available description of a suspect, the authorities noted.
Itzkowitz was previously known for his volunteer work with Hatzolah, a Jewish emergency medical service, as reported by Yeshiva World News.

He also owned the G&I Kosher Bakery on Main Street, a neighborhood institution for several years before it shut down, the Orthodox Jewish outlet said.
