President Trump praised Sunday night’s “UFC Freedom 250” event on the White House lawn, calling it an “incredible” show unlike anything seen before at the historic residence.
In a Truth Social post Monday morning, Trump said the event exceeded expectations, even after forecasts had warned of severe weather.
“The UFC at the White House last night was incredible. The weather was scheduled to be horrendous, and it turned out to be PERFECT! So much for weather predicting,” Trump wrote.
He also celebrated the backdrop of the event, saying the White House “has never looked more beautiful” and describing the setting as “unsurpassed.”
Organizers drew an estimated crowd of 80,000 fans to the Ellipse, just south of the executive mansion, while thousands more gathered along the National Mall to follow the action.
Trump singled out several fighters for praise, including Bo Nickal, Justin Gaethje, Ciryl Gane, Sean O’Malley, Josh Hokit, Mauricio Ruffy and Diego Lopes, saying their performances were “unbelievable.”
The event, scheduled to coincide with the president’s 80th birthday, resulted in all seven fights ending in a TKO, culminating with American Justin Gaethje defeating Georgian-Spanish champion and heavy favorite Ilia Topuria to regain the lightweight title belt.
