Two Shot Near Busy Bronx Subway Station as Police Hunt Gunman

A burst of gunfire erupted outside a crowded Bronx subway stop Thursday evening, wounding two people and triggering panic as pedestrians rushed to escape the danger.

Surveillance video from the area near the West Farms Square–East Tremont Avenue subway station shows a man in a white hoodie firing multiple shots into a plaza shortly around 6 p.m.

In the footage, the suspected shooter appears to move slowly toward West Farms Square plaza before aiming toward a cluster of people gathered near a storefront.

The video also shows one man tumbling over a bench and landing on the pavement, though it was not immediately clear whether he had been hit by gunfire.

As shots rang out, several bystanders scattered in fear, racing away from the plaza while the gunman fled the scene.

According to the NYPD, two people were struck in the Bronx shooting.

Police said a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg, while a 31-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks.

Both victims were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.

It’s unclear if the vicitms were innocent bystanders or intended targets.

No arrests were made as of late Thursday.
